APWU MANCHESTER AREA LOCAL #230: Maintenance Craft

Sisters and Brothers:
Please forgive my lapse in updating this page. I offer no excuses, for I have none.
Staffing at the L&DC and the Manchester Plant continue to be a problem. At the Plant, which isn’t too bad, the root cause is management holds their staffing analysis package close to the chest, not wanting our input. At the L&DC, however, the problem is much worse; the root cause is laziness or incompetence or both; the two can become so intertwined as to be indistinguishable.
We continue to try to get management to cooperate with us in staffing accordingly and correctly, but, unfortunately, the only course appears to be the Grievance Procedure. So be it.

As I’ve followed the exchanges on the message board at our website, I’ve become a bit concerned about the content of some of the entries. We’re a Family, folks, and a good Family does not air out their dirty laundry for all the world to see. There are some out there that thrive on animosity and we don’t need them seeing any friction we might have amongst ourselves. I’m not saying discourse isn’t good, but there is a time and place for that which is not constructive criticism. Like our Union Meetings. If you have a gripe with a Steward or Officer, talk to them. Or talk to another Officer. Bring your concern to the Union Meeting!! Let’s keep our message board helpful and positive and air out the laundry at the Meetings.
See you there!
Respectfully,
Keith E. Moore
